Dog Walker in Thurcroft
Hi, I’m Hazel and would love to tell you a little about my passion for, and experience of caring for animals, which has led me to pursue my dream of running my own dog walking and pet sitting business.
I grew up living in a country park and spent my whole childhood pretty much within the confines of the park and helped to look after the many farm animals that lived there. Anything from feeding ducks, horses, sheep and llamas to trimming goats hooves, grooming angora rabbits and the application of medicines to various different beasts.
I have always had my own pets too, including rabbits, ducks, chickens, mice, hamsters, snakes, dogs, cats, goats, horses and coldwater and tropical fish.
When I was only six years old, my father was a dog handler and owned two German shepherds which were trained as police dogs. They were the softest dogs at home, but soon got to work bringing down anyone up to no good when patrolling the council parks at night. I always got involved with the training of them and I think that’s where my passion for dogs and all animals started.
Since then, I have found I have an affinity with all things furry, feathery and scaly. I may have to draw the line at giant spiders though. 🙂 I am concerned with the whole well being of my own animals and my clients too, including mental well being, exercise needs, health issues and everything in between.
I do become attached to the animals I encounter through my work, it’s impossible not to, and feel honoured when their owners trust me to become a part of their pet’s lives, sometimes on a daily basis.
The business was officially started up early in 2019 when I lost my gorgeous Labrador Logan, to cancer, hence the name Logan’s run. I really wanted to carry on something in his name, and it seemed the right time to start a new venture. So here I am, and thoroughly enjoying every minute.
